2008 weaving craft exhibition holds in Yilan County

The National Center for Traditional Arts in Taiwan's Yilan County has displayed a wonderful exposition of Taiwan weaving crafts. This exposition starts in January and will continue till end of March.

At exhibition the beauty and deftness of Taiwan's weaving craft are presented. Visitors can feel delight in scrutinizing of more than 270 traditional and modern weaving works. All crafted works presented at this exhibition were made by over 60 weaving artists that are real craftspeople in weaving skill.

Lin De-fu, head of the National Center for Traditional Art, described the pieces of art presented at exhibition as "unique".

"The works display the diversity and originality of Taiwan's weaving craft and present the multiplicity of warp and weft," Lin said.

This exhibition brings together weaving artists from different parts of Taiwan. Visitors can observe and learn the techniques of weaving straw mats and ropes from professional Taiwan’ teachers. Also, public can learn how to use natural dyes extracted from indigo and other plants to color woven and embroidered craft products or learn from weaving artists how to make aboriginal weaving handicrafts.

The lessons are taught straight at craft exhibition. This exhibition runs under patronage The National Taiwan Craft Research Institute, the Taichung County Cultural Center and the Yuanli Rush Grass Cultural Hall.
