Handbags by Kristy Sobel
Posted on 02 jun 2008
Everything began with the solution of the problems with pain in neck and back, and ended in collection of ladies’ handbags. After the road incident, taking a turn to operations on spine and jugular vertebrae, 35 – years business woman said: “Life turned back”, and even such an elementary thing as a favorite handbag carrying on her shoulder was out of her power.
To lessen the load on her shoulders, Sobel found a solution in using of belt bags, but they, unfortunately, already were out of fashion. And then she decided to develop her own design. After a while all her family, friends and even strangers began to ask her to make the handbag for them, too. Then Sobel decided to set to this matter seriously, and founded the company “LaNeige Purse” with her husband Eric. Her wicker nylon handbags attracted a wide range of women – from teen-agers to those who are 80 and up. In 2004 she produced a line of leather products. Prices ranged from 54 to 200 dollars, and in 2005 the company earned 210 000 dollars.
“The most important aspect of my work is that the purses are real salvation for people with chronic problems with the spine,” she says, noticing that the handbags also are in demand among active women who need to have both hands to be free. Her bags are sold in 60 stores and boutiques all over the country, as well as via the Internet.
Despite the daily struggle with physical pain, it is impossible to crush Sobel’s spirit of enterprise. “This is a real problem – to get up every morning and do business,” she says. “But the problem appears only once a day and I overcome it.”
