Recommendations for Harvest, Processing and Storage of Corn

This article relates how you must pick corn and how to process it in order to reduce leaves loss and damage. Because corn leaves are used by craftsmen in order to make handmade wares and souvenirs. Corn named "tooth horse" is used for handmade decorative wares.
The farmers might begin harvesting corn by mid-September, but most of the harvest is likely to take place in October. Harvest times can vary a good deal because different corn hybrids take different lengths of time to mature. Harvesting methods differ according to the part of the plant to be used. There are known two types of corn Harvest:
- Manual harvesting.
- Mechanized harvesting with corn combines help.
Manual harvesting of maize does not require any specific tool; it simply involves removing the cob from the standing stalk. Traditionally, maize cobs are commonly stored in their unhusked form. To improve their drying, it is often recommended to remove the husks from the cobs. For corn husk objects craftsmen pick out the husk of maize that is yellowish.
The first mechanized harvester to detach ears of maize from the standing stalks, the 'corn snapper', was built in North America in the middle of the 19th century. This was followed by the development of 'corn pickers', which incorporated a mechanism for removing the husks from the harvested ears. Harvesting machines may produce ears with shorter shanks and less-green husks than hand harvesting.
Whether harvested by hand or machine, sweet corn should be collected at night or early in the morning, when it is cool. Every effort should be made to keep harvested ears and husk cool and in shaded areas.
Corn husk that are picked for knitting must be long, thin, yellow, dry and spotless. These are usually corn husks that wrap corn cob.
Corn husk must be deposited in dried places as lodges or sheds where it can't get musty. Corn leaves represent a qualitative matter that didn’t conduct electric current and heat, they didn’t irritate also skin and seeing.
Note that wares that are made from corn husk have a big benefit for human organism.
